They were invented for the dual purpose…

…of being able to signal the car behind when to also apply the brakes…and to be seen as a warning to other drivers in the night.

I find their different designs quite fascinating!

  1. The lights on the backs of cars in your country are different to ours. Our brake lights are also lights for night time, but we have separate lights for indicators, and they are orange, so when you are looking to see if a car is turning, front and back, their orange indicators will blink on and off.

    • Ours used to be like that too, Leanne, until the Asians began designing all these wild formations, where everything is in one “package”–it’s called ‘aerodynamically efficient, or some such nonsense, and of course, it adds to the price of the car, though is just a bunch of easily damaged, yet very expensive, PLASTIC!
