At about this hour…

…one year ago today, I was near death in an emergency room, suffering from a huge pulmonary embolism (blood clot) in my right lung, very, very close to the heart.

After nine days, I was finally released, and received home care from visiting nurses for almost a month…until I found my wonderful new doctor!

He has helped me regain my general health; of course, I, too, work very hard at it, because at sixty-seven years, I could give up–but that’s just not in my genes.

The most ‘help’ I’ve received is from YOU, my followers–new and older!

YOU keep me going at it!

So please, pat yourselves on the back and celebrate LIFE with me today, because one year ago I thought I might never see another Spring, like this:

Though supposedly…

…I have now entered the ‘Winter of my years’, unlike this absent limb…

...I do not feel decrepit, rotting, or molded and falling apart.

True, my life has been ‘pruned’, as harshly as this branch…

...yet I remain hopeful in being able to be part of another Spring, feeling much like these tender buds in brightest sunlight!

Thank you to all who follow this blog…you keep me going!

There is so much more beauty to be presented in this, my sixty-seventh year!

Almost overnight!

The past 48 hours have been quite warm, with daytime temps in the 80s (F.), which really brought Spring early this morning.

These first two images are from my window…that gorgeous ‘Spring green’ color was not there last evening!

01MAY2013-5 Sherwin Tree-2

As I walked up Sheridan Road (so happy I did NOT take the bus to my appointment!), this flower-covered tree really stood out!

Trees are leafing out everywhere, though the Maples and Oaks are slower.  It is said there will be no more frosts once the leaves of the Maples have emerged…we’ll see!

Here are some Tulips in-a-row.  If they look familiar, it’s because an image of the same row appears in the previous post (scroll down and check for yourself!), which I took about the same time just two days ago!

I kind of thought they’d be yellow!

Another 80 degree day…

…has brought us these lovelies:

These are blossoming so early, I feel we are being teased…a lot.  This is Chicago, and March is normally a dismal month.  I’m certain we’ll see a heavy snowstorm or three before May.

The real capper is this flowering crab, less than two full blocks from the shore of Lake Michigan:

For the past few moments, there has been distant thunder.  I fear a storm might destroy the delicate magnolias….
