…it seems Summer lingers on…
…I had to make a short trip to the Evanston Home Depot to get some extra stain-blocking primer for my living area walls and ceiling.
That wonderful store is only about four miles away (two different buses), but I decided to first overshoot it by a quarter mile and see what the Skokie Northshore Channel looks like during these last few days of Summer.
Have a look!
These subtly colored blooms were given an added treatment with the Diffuse Glow filter using pure white as the background/glow color, which also adds an overblown quality to the whites, allowing for a softer, more romantic look.
The Grain was set at “3” to give a fresher look to these very old-fashioned favorites.

Just a note:
Although I have no knowledge as to whether any of my copyrighted images have been ‘stolen’ by others, I decided to add a watermark and process them in a smaller pixel format.
I work diligently to present fine photography to all viewers, and to have another place their name on my images is simply untoward!
You can always ask for permission in the Comments to use an image, which I usually grant as long as I am given credit.
…Autumn is truly in the air–and in the quality of light.
After catching that chill on Labor Day, I felt really out of sorts health-wise…and the news of the past few days has been even more chilling and very depressing, what with all the ‘war chatter’!
Perhaps a little beauty can brighten our mood?
Adding the Diffuse Glow filter, using pure white as the glow color, seems to give this deep Pink a much ‘dreamier’ look.
There have been only a few flowers still growing, mostly Marigolds and other annuals…I’ll miss these beautiful Hibiscus, but of course, I’ll always have the images!
…two months ago, I photographed these…remember?
Graceful Hosta Flowers-1
This past Sunday, I photographed the same planting again…this time, from a different angle…and sadly, they are at their end, going to seed and the edges of the leaves are browning…but, no matter how rough the Winter will be, next Spring they’ll be back, as gorgeous and graceful as ever!
October’s Hosta Flowers
…when an image just calls out, “Please…Photoshop me!”, and this was one of those times.

After cropping, adjusting Levels to .81, setting Brightness at 5%/Contrast at 45% and adding Photo Filter #85 (Warming) at 27%, this was the resulting finished image:

But…as you know by now, I like to ‘play’…and it was one of those ‘watercolory’ type of days which I feel made the image quite perfect!
