Putting it (back) Together

It seems I’ve been running to and fro, hither and yon, to get this place totally back to ‘better than it was’!

No sooner than I feel I can rest, a prescription runs out, or the laundry piles itself so high, that I have to get out of my ‘paint clothes’, gussy up, and hop a bus or train in one direction or the other.

It’s hard work…and very tiring!

I did manage to get a few images processed, however, after walking over to the small park to deposit my ever-overflowing bag of recyclables (though Chicago has a city ordinance that all buildings of this size must provide recycling containers for the tenants, my building does not).

And…I’m off again, to return “Chicago” and “Titanic” (which I hadn’t ever seen!) DVDs to the library, drop my winter coat (haven’t worn it in several years!) at the cleaners, and stop at the hardware store for some spray paint (a little project for a Plexiglas (TM) small shelf I want to put up), and probably, because it’s close, a quick stop at my favorite little Morse Market to pick up a few things like Krinos Greek Yogurt, a jar of pesto for tonight’s pizza and some fruit…which always seems to run out too quickly these days!

I hope to return later, with some images from last month’s tour of the Emil Bach House, but unlike our politicians, I’m not promising anything!

Ch-ch-change…

…followed by c-c-cold!!!

Wednesday's Lake Michigan was quiet and gentle, very appropriate for the Day of Rdmembrance.

...as the waves roared all night long!

A mighty harsh north wind blew all day today, and the high temp was only in the low 60s F. throughout the city.

Although officially Autumn does not arrive until another nine days have passed, it seems as if it pounced on us in less than 48 hours!

Last Sunday at the lake

Finally, today we have somewhat of a cool-down with only 76 degrees F. at 8:00 AM (CDT)…and I’m very happy, because the excessive heat really did me in!

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time preparing walls for painting (when it gets cooler!), which means taking down ALL artwork, cleaning it, and patching holes…it’s a lot of stuff that takes time and energy.

So I took my vitamins early this morning, with my third cup of coffee, and now I’m ready to go at it…again…but first, I thought you might like some images from this past Sunday at the shore of Lake Michigan.

Touhy Beach was crowded...

The cool waters beckoned, but I didn't go in...it's enough for me to see these beautiful waters, and watch the kayak race markers bob up and down in gentle waves.

I’ve so many more images, but this is it for today.

Hoping to find/make some time to get into my e-mail to look at some of your posts!

As I mentioned…

…in the previous post, I am celebrating LIFE today!

I awoke long before sunrise, and this is what I saw from my studio window, which gave me hope for the day!

Just before 8:00 AM, the warm morning (such a curiosity!) beckoned, and I walked over to the lake.

Walking around this early was splendid…I stopped at Leone Beach Park and photographed the NOT-snow”–petals from the crabapple trees…

???????????????????????????????

…and some more NOT-snow” at the Loyola Park baseball diamond–just lowly dandelions here, gone to seed all at once!

Not Snow-2

The temperature was in the high 70s (F.)–hot for early morning, but there was a moderately strong south wind…just so perfect for the first anniversary of LIFE!

At about this hour…

…one year ago today, I was near death in an emergency room, suffering from a huge pulmonary embolism (blood clot) in my right lung, very, very close to the heart.

After nine days, I was finally released, and received home care from visiting nurses for almost a month…until I found my wonderful new doctor!

He has helped me regain my general health; of course, I, too, work very hard at it, because at sixty-seven years, I could give up–but that’s just not in my genes.

The most ‘help’ I’ve received is from YOU, my followers–new and older!

YOU keep me going at it!

So please, pat yourselves on the back and celebrate LIFE with me today, because one year ago I thought I might never see another Spring, like this:

"Idyllic"

“Idyllic”

Yesterday…

…the temperature hit around 85 degrees F. in Chicago, though it was about 10 degrees cooler at the lake shore.

That didn’t stop these people from spending a wonderful Tuesday afternoon at the beach!

So much for the ordinary beach shot…I much prefer this image!
