It’s a tiny green space, next to the Red Line “L” tracks, just south of Howard Street here in Chicago. Leonard Dubkin Park has seen many late night and early day drinkers, any number of druggies, and many who let their apartment-dogs run here.
Apparently, much will change this spring, as these raised beds , as well as a gate, have been installed. Though I was taught to ‘never assume’, it seems a fence will be placed around the beds.
It’s nice, whoever had this idea. We all need to understand just where food comes from, don’t we? With a huge amount of watchfulness, I hope these beds produce heavily for those who have invested their labor, as there are THOSE, in this northernmost neighborhood of Chicago, who seem to thrive on vandalism.
