Sorry, running behind…

…but then, so is Spring!

Yesterday, I washed down (with TSP–Trisodium Phosphate) the kitchen ceiling and walls, plus a few others that needed it…that’s the reason there was no post yesterday–it took NINE hours (with breaks in between where I was busy with other cleaning), but…

…except for the two large windows and their blinds, the Spring cleaning is complete!

Give a cheer for the old gal, who can still climb a ladder (though slowly and carefully!)…she worked her bum off, just to get ready for painting, which will not even be attempted until warmer weather (whenever that decides to show up!)!

We were supposed to be “inundated with snow” today…then those crazy weather folks knocked it back to “two inches”, and finally succumbed to “snow flurries”…and guess what?

Nary a flake fell all day!!!

The wind has been pretty vicious all day, so I thought I’d show you Lake Michigan…from last Sunday, the 17th, another windy day.

Back tomorrow…I’ve simply got to rub some Neutrogena into my poor, dry hands!

Before the ‘storm’

Last Sunday was bright and beautiful!

After seeing this from my window, the inviting sunshine gave me an excuse to take a break from Spring cleaning and go for a short walk to the lake.

My favorite place, backed by huge hills of frozen wave splash, and faraway clouds looking like mountains!

Though it was moderately cold, even the gulls basked in the sun, which had gone missing most of the Winter!

There are two, but…

…I only photo’d one.

The Bowman and Friends

From Wiki:

The Bowman and The Spearman, also known as Indians, are two bronze equestrian sculptures standing as gatekeepers in Congress Plaza, at the intersection of Congress Drive and Michigan Avenue in Grant Park, Chicago, United States. The sculptures were made in Zagreb by Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović and installed at the entrance of the parkway in 1928. The pair of sculptures was funded by the Benjamin Ferguson Fund. An unusual aspect of the sculptures is that the figures in both sculptures are missing their weapons, the bow and arrow and the spear.

Recent research (2006) strongly suggest that the lettering on the pedestals designed by architects Holabird & Roche was executed by sculptor Rene Paul Chambellan.

BTW, here’s the original shot and, as usual, I have ‘shopped it to the hilt, even cloning out most of the bird droppings!
