From my other window: Spring sunrise

NOTE: No Photoshop (TM) here…these are all straight from the camera!

Then, I checked the weather, and it’s only 15 degrees F.–that’s 17 degrees BELOW freezing, with a heavy west wind gusting to 23mph!

Not exactly my idea of Spring!

But…less than an hour later, my hardwood floors looked like this–gleaming–after being treated with an Orange-glo product!

Spring cleaning is almost finished!

Just the oven, the refrigerator, and 3 windows (inside and out), plus two sets of window blinds (yes, I also wash those, by soaking them in hot, soapy water in the tub, then letting them dry before re-hanging)!

Oh…and then I can tear the kitchen apart…I’m planning on washing the walls, then repainting!

A lot of work, you say?

Sure…but who doesn’t like living in a well-cleaned home?!?

What a difference a day makes!

Taken this morning, a full half-hour earlier than yesterday’s images!

At 6:42 AM (CST), you can plainly see how much the sun has 'moved' since early yesterday!

N.B.:  Once again, no adjustments other than re-sizing were done.

The reddish-pink dots in the first image are not UFOs, merely reflections from a digital readout on an electric heater in my studio.

There is a layer of heavy plastic over the window, therefore the camera is shooting through that plus two layers of not very clear glass…the images are not as sharp as I would prefer, but you can still see the beauty!

From my window: Sunrise…Sunset

This morning, A nice, warm glow, summoned me to my east window, and of course, I took the camera with!

This was the view to the north, overlooking Farcroft and the City of Evanston high-rise.

N.B.:  The two images above are ‘straight from the camera’…all I did was crop them a bit.

Now is the time of year when the rising and setting sun reflect perfectly in the windows of Evanston’s tallest buildings.  It’s just barely touching the CBRE Building, (where the Chase Bank is located…the dark one above), which looked like this at sunset just four evenings ago, on the 15th:

Believe me, it is a sight to behold, and only lasts for a few minutes! But, I do look forward to these displays, and happy I was here to catch this one, in particular!

Giving Thanks

What to be thankful for today…and every day?

I am happy and amazed to still be alive, to be able to post for you this morning.  It’s been a long haul for the past six months since my hospitalization in May for that nasty Pulmonary Embolism.  My wonderful doctor called yesterday to let me know my ‘numbers’ were  great (I must take Coumadin for the rest of my life and have blood tests every 3-4 weeks to ensure that the ‘clotting level’ is between “2” and “3”–mine is at “2.3”, YAY!).  His call came while I was just about to break the eggs for this:

My Pie!

There was enough filling left over to put in a dish and bake separately, so I had a taste last evening…oh, YUM!…since I haven’t baked a pie in over 25 years, I figured it might be a bust!

But, there are more important things to think about than eating today, and one of them is how much I appreciate ALL of you, the ‘followers’!  It’s YOU who keep me going…YOU who help me get out and photograph, even when I don’t feel like going out…YOU who write kind comments, and post at your own blogs (many of which I follow)!!!  I thank you….

Whether or not you’re in the USA (and many of you aren’t), please take a moment today, and every day, to be thankful for what you have been given…a beautiful planet to inhabit, glorious Nature all around us, and a sun that continues to rise each morning…

…and set each evening…

…no matter what!
