Here's a detail from the large tree, which is at least twenty fee high...lots of beautiful ornaments!

What impressed me more than that gorgeous tree and garlands was this marvelous mosaic floor of the lobby! Every tile is set by hand, in the Tiffany style, to catch the light as you walk by. I searched for info on the designer to no avail!

As I turned to leave, I looked up and captured the signature Lion's Head in the middle of two griffins...wish I knew the significance of these three pieces of sculpture!

I had designed and hand-painted large floral vases for the InterContinental back when I was working for a Special Events firm here, but had never had the opportunity to step inside.  I’m so glad I did, and shall return, as the building has quite a fascinating history, and some wonderful public rooms.

Here's a closer look...though I must say, I'm not fond of seeing little children wearing black!

Yesterday on the Magnificent Mile…

…I spotted these cute little “elves” in their cheery little elf outfits, handing out scratch-off cards.  The sweet, happy pregnant elf on the right is Sara, who gave me an OK to take their picture, which I promised to post!

The “Retail Me Not Elves”, Michigan Avenue, Sunday, December 2, 2012

I had never heard of this site, www.retailmenot.com, so I checked it out.  Apparently, you can save a lot of $$$ at a huge number of retail spots all across the country…and that’s a good thing these days, isn’t it?  Click the link and take a peek, especially if you go by the alias “Santa”!

Oh…I scratched off the card and didn’t win anything, but that’s all right…I’m just happy to be alive, able to grab shots like this, and meet some really fun people!
