Autumn along Morse Avenue

We’re only two and a half weeks into Autumn, so there’s not much color here in the northernmost neighborhood of Chicago, but there certainly is beauty, as proven during a short walk to the grocer’s on Tuesday.

A burst of gold was the only major color change...as the weeks move on, there'll certainly be more!

The weather has been perfect this week, with warm, sunny days followed by crisper nights.

Oh, how I wish this could go on forever!

Delicate Pink Surprises

Pretty, isn't it?

Pretty, isn’t it?

And so is this one!

And so is this one!

But, of course, I had to ‘play’ with them by adding a bit of the Horizontal Grain Option from the Textures Filter, which gave a more dramatic look!

I had some time on my hands (the place was clean and the laundry folded away!), so I dabbled with other Artistic Filters, finding something very nice happening when I applied Neon Glow.

On this very dreary, gray Saturday morning, I felt I needed to ‘play’ more, just because!

Here’s what these two look like after applying a bit of Glass Filter, utilizing the Glass Blocks option:

Two ‘ordinary macros’ quickly became just a tiny bit surreal and much more ‘painterly’, with a tendency to look as is they had been ‘touched’ by Georgia O’Keeffe!

Having never tried the Glass Block option in all my years of using Photoshop (TM), I found it worked very , very nicely for these delicate pinks, and the two white roses I also worked at this morning!

Pretty amazing that all it took to chase away the blah, gray morning was a bit of pink, some white, and a funny little filter called Glass Blocks!
